New Contract Ratified at Hawaiian Airlines

Sisters and Brothers,

Yesterday, the more than 2,500 Machinists and Aerospace Union sisters and brothers at Hawaiian Airlines said “Yes” to contracts that locks in five years of compounding wage increases. They said “Yes” to a workplace that’s much more fair to part-timers. They said “Yes” to controlling health care costs. And, they said “Yes” to contracts that provides a healthier work/life balance, protected by new rules that make it more expensive to rely on mandatory overtime instead of proper staffing.

This agreement will allow Hawaiian to continue to attract top talent, inviting skillful, productive workers who are proud to work at Hawaiian Airlines.

We want to offer our sincere gratitude to the negotiating committees at Hawaiian for this accomplishment. These dedicated and diligent unionists spent countless hours away from their families, fighting hard to improve the lives of thousands of deserving workers at the airline. Their dedication has led to this historic agreement and will build a strong foundation for even better future contracts. IAMAW District 141 and 142 Members should be proud of the work they’ve done.

These contracts will continue to lay the foundations for future improvements for our membership at Hawaiian. Our sisters and brothers at Hawaiian have a right to be proud of this agreement, and we are incredibly honored by the outpouring of solidarity and patience shown by the Hawaiian Airlines membership.

Finally, we applaud the good-faith efforts of Hawaiian Airlines to find an equitable agreement with the union workers that have made the airline such a success. We look forward to building on this relationship, and we encourage even greater investment in hard-working and talented women and men who keep Hawaiian Airlines flying high.

Tentative Agreement Reached at Hawaiian Airlines

Sisters and Brothers,

As promised last week, the proofing process for the Tentative Agreements at Hawaiian Airlines is complete, and we are happy to present them to you this morning for review. These proposals are the product of countless hours of work by your negotiators, and you can be proud of the job they’ve done on your behalf. If ratified, these five-year pacts will lock in the highest pay rates for covered workgroups in the history of Hawaiian Airlines. They will create a much fairer work environment for part-timers and promote a healthier work-life balance by making mandatory overtime more costly for the company.

Please take some time to carefully review the full, finalized text of your specific Tentative Agreement. Your negotiators are eager to answer any questions you may have, so please do not hesitate to contact them.

We enthusiastically encourage all Machinists Union members at Hawaiian Airlines to support this effort and vote in favor of ratification. The date for this crucial vote is set for February 16. Contact your Local Lodge for exact polling locations and times.

Aloha sisters and brothers at Hawaiian Airlines,

On Friday, December 10, 2021, your joint negotiations committee met in Chicago to discuss the outstanding issues remaining from our last negotiations session in Las Vegas last month. While we made significant progress and closed most issues, we need to draft the final language to get us to the tentative agreements for both groups. We are getting dates in January to meet to complete this task. As soon as we have confirmed dates, we will let you know. We thank everyone for their patience and support as we bring these talks to a conclusion.

We wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season!

Hawaiian Airlines Negotiations Update

22 November, 2021

Aloha sisters and brothers at Hawaiian Airlines,

Your joint District 141 & 142 negotiation committee met this past week in Las Vegas with the company. While we were unable to conclude negotiations, significant process was made. We still have a few outstanding issues remaining. We plan on meeting with our negotiating committee on December 10th to discuss and review these remaining items. After this meeting, we will discuss possible meetings with the company to conclude these negotiations.

Our goal remains the same – to prevent the need to enter Section Six negotiations and start this process all over.

Thank you for your continued support while we work to get the contract you deserve! We’d also like to wish all of our members a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving.
