This months issue addresses anxiety and stress during the holiday, and coping with grief through the holiday season. Additionally, the dates for all EAP classes are on the calendar. Please get with your local lodge secretary/treasurer or president to sign up for classes now. The classes will fill up quickly and I want all of you to be able to get into the class you want. Let me know if you have questions about the enrollment process.

This has been quite a year! Thanks to all of you, our members have received great care and compassion to help them through some difficult times. I am very grateful to each one of you for the care and compassion you have given!

I hope the Holiday season is all that you want it to be –

Helping Hands: October Focuses on Trauma

October focuses on trauma – what it is (and isn’t), how to treat it and the effects it can have on us as adults – after we experienced trauma as children – the ACES study is fascinating – ADVERSE Childhood Experiences can manifest themselves as psychological and physical disorders as adults.

Conflict in the workplace is increasing, as it is in other areas of our lives. Your regional representatives are trained in conflict resolution. They can be a good resource for ideas about how to deal with conflict you may have witnessed. Please utilize their expertise to help with difficult situations.

We changed the format a bit this month – let us know what you think.

Thank you for being there, for being able to respond to others needs and being able to help others deal with difficult situations.

September is Recovery Month. There is some great information about the recovery process from SAMHSA (substance abuse and mental health services administration). SAMHSA.gov is a terrific resource and has lots of resources. Some of the resource pages are listed in this months newsletter.

Thank you for the support you are giving those around you – it is important and meaningful to those who need your help!
