Scott Kirby and the rest of his dishonest and greedy management team are attempting to mislead United employees once again. As Mr. Kirby begins to realize that he cannot cause an involuntarily furlough of all full-time employees to part time, he is doing his best to cause mass confusion. As I have stated previously, in discussions with United management the carrier never put forth an idea that did not violate our contract, the CARES Act and your rights under both. The IAM could not agree to any company proposals that violated your contract or federal law.
Additionally, United demanded that your union and each IAM member not file a grievance against the company for their violations or pursue any legal action to protect your rights. We cannot and will not give up our rights to fight this injustice.
If Scott and the rest of his management team thought they had the right to involuntary layoff every single full-time worker to part-time, why would they ask us to waive our rights under the law and the contract?
Every IAM member at United should understand that Mr. Kirby is willing to upend the lives of approximately 15,000 dedicated and hard working United employees and their families to save $60 million dollars over the next several months. Think about that. United currently has approximately $10 BILLION in cash available, yet he fully intends to violate your contractual rights, break the law under the CARES Act and take food off your family’s table.
At the same time, we are RIGHT NOW, through the use of voluntary COLAs, saving United’s dishonest management team $30 MILLION PER MONTH and will save approximately $150 MILLION through September 30th.
And, we worked our asses off to enhance, incentivize and expand voluntary program offerings, but Kirby refused to even discuss costs savings. That is because this is not about cost savings, it is about Scott Kirby wanting what he wants, when he wants. Which is why he feels it is OK to cheat American taxpayers by taking their money intended to maintain salaries and jobs and ignoring the requirements of the CARES Act. No wonder Scott Kirby has been banned from several casinos for breaking the rules. This time his disrespect for the rules, our contract and the law will rip off $60 MILLION from United’s workers to go directly into Kirby’s greedy hands.
But Scott Kirby isn’t as smart as he thinks. Scott, I suggest you read United States Senator, Josh Hawley’s letter to the CEO of United Airlines, Oscar Munoz, who knew how to run a company, cared about his employees and who you have made look really bad.

As you can see, Senator Hawley thinks you’re a greedy, lying cheater too and demands you rectify this wrong immediately. I urge every United employee to print out Senator Hawley’s letter and bring it to your Supervisor at the start of your next shift.

And what exactly does printing this and giving to our supervisors accomplish? They aren’t the ones that decided this, heck the company wasn’t honest enough with them to give them a heads up this was coming. We told them about the cuts! This anti-management rhetoric is not a one size fits all. This is related to the officer level of the company not supervisors or managers. They are just as frustrated as we are!
I’m not reading this as “anti-management,” exactly. Management and admin are non-union and getting hit hard right now. A third of them will be fired soon. United executives are much more “anti-management” than ramp and CS agents are right now.
But, the way the company is structured means that we have to send a message to executives through the chain of command. That starts with supervisors. It strikes me as the same sort of process you have with Grievances – they have to start with the sups and work up from there.
Don’t agree to anything. They cannot make us part time. How can they expect full timers to give up everything and part timers nothing?we are getting screwed. This is the most unreasonable, irresponsible response to cost cutting they could have contrived. For all of us who have worked the majority of our lives to make this a decent airline, and this is our thanks. We will win in court. Don’t give up!
So to add insult to injury, the latest news suggests the elimination of FT “lead” status in conjunction with the elimination of FT????
How is that ok???
It is one thing to reduce FT to 39 hours, I am ok with that kind of a TEMPORARY concession.
What seems to be happening is a complete dissection of the contract in the most disrespectful, dishonest and moral destroying manner!!!

We can incite the media, and social media platforms to hold the company accountable for violating the intent of the CARES Act. Riddle me this, Batman. What is Kirby’s goal ? Clearly, his goal is to bust the unions, and remake the company into something that resembles Delta. How does he accomplish this ? By violating the intent of the CARES Act, then structuring the company’s virus response in a way that guarantees the maximum division within your work group; pitting one employee against another. He then instructs his minions (Hart, Gebo, and Roitman) to explain to you why your full time Ramp Lead or Service Director status just doesn’t work for them anymore. This is the strategy of a rapacious, self-absorbed exploiter, and a mis-management squad that doesn’t give a damn about your decades of sacrifice, your future, or your seniority. You got the shaft in the ESOP, and the “engineered” post-911 bankruptcy, but they are quick to point out that they weren’t with the company when those decisions were made. Their gross arrogance is exposed in their ongoing refusal to accept the reality that they must run the company within the context of the legacy of decisions made by past mis-management squads. Get VOCAL ! Get the attention of the media and Congress ! The exploiter will ultimately be convicted in the court of public opinion ! Stay UNITED ! Don’t buy their BS !!!
Call or write your congressperson and senator and explain how United is stealing your paycheck. It works, that’s what got us the payroll protection act in the first place. It only takes a few minutes to let your voice be heard. The more we do this, the better chance it will not go down.

Everything is correct above all msgs, as we all UA agents and basically everyone work very hard for company.
We work long hours ,way from Family for long time .
United top management should not do like this .
We don’t mind to help company to do 30 hours at the moment until gets back to normal .
But they should not take all our full time employees benefits .
All this time we all thinking that we all are working for best airline but I don’t think so.
Also we all understand what’s going in the world right now and airline industry we are not stupid.
But airline need to treat right way also in our United Help Hub is way they put down those options are very wrong and do not understand what’s that mean.

Absolutely. I bet all of us would be willing to auto 10 hours a week until we return to profitability. This should be the only option, effective October 1.
I’m not willing.ive been furloughed 4 times, outsourced once. We’ve given back enough.
In a time where companies of essential workers ( which we are) are praising and THANKING the employees for donning PPE , compromising their own health and welfare. Proudly servicing the customers and loading the aircraft be it with bags or cargo, the res centers taking the thousand of calls. This is how UNITED THANKS US! We must stand in Solidarity- We won’t back down. Every member has a part in this, now stand and do your part!
The CARES act which we worked tirelessy to get passed was to protect our payroll through September 30. Looks to me like the company is violating all of the precious Working Together Guidelines- BRAVO UNITED- you are rotten to the CORE 4
Wow. They really did this. I heard the rumors but I never thought they would do it. After all the years of blood sweat and tears. And record profits they are putting employees with 50, 40, 30…..years seniority from full time to part time. Shame on you United. What happened to all the profits? You surly did not share it with us. I realize the grave situation and rightfully so do not take away from workers what the state has giving us to keep a float. Just like our dues should be also included you have a legal fund and a slush fund, give your members a reprieve also. Why not more Cargo Flights Instead of trying to put our Cargo Mail on Narrow Body Aircraft put the mail and cargo in Containers to be put on our wide body Aircraft The reasons that I always got were we don”t have the time??? or we don”t have the Man Power The Plane goes out with Bags Only Mail and Cargo stay on the gate for at least three to four hours by that time we have to pick it for the next Day because of no more flights.Post Office comes arround asking what happened??

Wow so all the years we put in isnt good enuff when u do stuff like this you have to look back at all the hard work we put in for this company long hours of being away from our families when made to stay mandatory overtime, coming in during terrible weather, staying to do flights past our schedule without getting paid to satisfy the customers, staying late for a supervisor we have a good connection with…I mean its selfish and degrading and after all this is over how can you look us in the face and speak honestly. This is terrible for the entire United Family
