IAM and Spirit Airlines reach a Tentative Agreement

The IAM and Spirit Airlines have reached a Tentative Agreement today completing negotiation of their first collective bargaining agreement covering the airline’s Ramp Service Employees, all located at Fort Lauderdale –Hollywood International Airport (“FLL”).

The parties reached an interim agreement in June of 2015 covering wages, job security, union security, benefits, and the grievance process / system board of adjustment (arbitration) process. The new Tentative Agreement also addresses job scope, hours of service & overtime, seniority, uniforms, safety and health, among other things.

The IAM and Spirit Airlines were committed to negotiating a mutually agreeable contract that addresses the needs and concerns of Spirit’s Ramp Service Employees and the airline. The entire IAM negotiations committee unanimously endorses the passage of this Tentative Agreement.

IAM Assistant General Chairman Tony Gibson will be in FLL on June 07, 2016 and Gil Simmons will be in FLL on June 16, 20, & 21, 2016, along with Grand Lodge Rep Joe Stassi, holding informational sessions on the Tentative Agreement.

The contract ratification vote will take place Wednesday June 22 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Thursday June 23 from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm on the FLL airport property to ensure that all Ramp Service Agents will have the opportunity to vote on the negotiated agreement. Both Assistant General Chairmen Tony Gibson and Gil Simmons will be in FLL for the ratification dates of June 22nd and 23rd.

The entire negotiations committee unanimously endorses the passage of this Tentative Agreement.
