District Lodge 141 President and Directing General Chairperson Rich Delaney has worked at United Airlines for more than 34 years. During that time he was furloughed and recalled. He was involved in a short strike in 1975 and a long strike in 1979. His service to the local lodge’s membership began when he became a steward immediately after his probation ended in 1974. Delaney subsequently became an AGC and was re-elected four times. Delaney was raised in a strong Union family who instilled in him a core belief that Unions are essential to protecting the rights of working people. He believes a well-represented membership translates into a strong Union. “If Members know their issues and concerns are being addressed, they are more likely to have faith in the Union, and that translates into solidarity and strength,” he said.
